You can't copy Telegram signals to MT5 with the phone apps alone, because MetaTrader 5 on Android and iPhone doesn't run Expert Advisors, and most desktop copiers are Expert Advisors or need one. A cloud copier gets around this: it runs on the vendor's servers, so the phone is only used to set it up and to watch the trades. With MT5 Telegram Copier the whole setup happens in your phone's browser, and copying carries on with the phone locked or switched off.
This page covers why phone-only setups fail, the setup on a phone step by step, and how to follow your trades from the MT5 app.
Why the MT5 phone app can't copy signals
The MT5 app for Android and iOS is made for manual trading and watching positions. You can open and close trades, set a stop-loss, look at charts. You cannot load an Expert Advisor, which is the automated trading program a desktop copier relies on.
A typical desktop copier has two parts: a program that reads Telegram and an EA inside a Windows MT5 terminal that places the orders. Neither part runs on a phone. That is why "Telegram copier for Android" searches turn up so many people who installed something, got no trades, and later found out it needed a PC that stays on.
Your options with a phone and no computer:
- A cloud copier, set up in the browser. Nothing runs on the phone.
- A desktop copier on a Windows VPS, controlled from a remote-desktop app on the phone. It works, but typing into a Windows screen on a 6-inch display is painful, and the VPS costs extra. Our VPS guide covers that route.
For most people with only a phone, the cloud copier is the realistic choice.
What you need before you start
- Your Telegram app logged in on the phone, with the signal channel joined. Private VIP channels are fine as long as you are a member.
- Your MT5 login number, the master password (the investor password can't place trades) and the exact server name. All three are in the email your broker sent when the account was opened.
- A demo MT5 account at the same broker, if you want to test first. We recommend it.
- A subscription. The plan is EUR 24.99 a month for one Telegram account, one channel and one MT5 account (pricing).
Setup on the phone, step by step
The dashboard works in Chrome on Android and Safari on iPhone. No app to install.
- Log in. Open mt5telegramcopier.com/app/ and sign in with the email you used at checkout.
- Connect Telegram. Enter your phone number. Telegram sends a login code to your Telegram app, usually as a message from the Telegram service account. Switch to Telegram, read the code, switch back to the browser and type it.
- Pick the channel. Choose the channel or group to copy from the ones your Telegram account has joined. The channel owner doesn't need to add a bot or approve anything, because the copier reads messages as you.
- Add your MT5 account. Enter the login number and master password, then search for your broker's server and pick it from the list. The connection runs through MetaApi, a cloud MetaTrader service, and we don't store the password.
- Check the settings. Each MT5 account has one settings page. Start with a small fixed lot or a low risk %, set a max lot, and leave "Skip signals without a stop-loss" on. The "What would open?" table shows the lots your settings would produce.
- Close the browser. Copying runs on our servers from here on.
Typing a long server name on a phone is where most mistakes happen. Use the search box and type only the first few letters, and compare the result with the server name in your broker's email letter by letter. The full guide with screenshots is on the setup page.
Test on demo from the phone
Connect the demo account first and let it copy for a week or so. Each day, open the channel in Telegram and the trade history in the MT5 app, and check that every signal opened with the right symbol, direction, stop-loss and take-profits. Follow-up messages too: if the channel said "close half", half should be closed.
When something doesn't match, it is usually a setting (a symbol name, a lot split, a phrase the channel uses for break-even) and you can fix it from the same phone. Once the demo looks right, add the live account and give it the same settings.
Copying signals can lose money, on any device. A week on demo costs nothing but patience.
Watching your trades in the MT5 app
Log in to the same MT5 account in the MetaTrader 5 app and the copied trades show up in the Trade tab like any others, with their stop-loss and take-profit levels. Closed ones are in History. You can close a copied trade by hand from the app if you want out early.
A few things worth knowing:
- Trades you open yourself in the app are never touched by the copier's "More signals at once" rules. Those count only the copier's own trades.
- If you change the MT5 master password at your broker, enter the new one in the dashboard too, so the copier can reconnect.
Don't rely on your phone to tell you a trade was copied. Make a habit of opening the MT5 app or the dashboard to check, especially in the first weeks.
Keeping the Telegram connection alive
Because the copier logs in as your Telegram account, it shows up as an active session under Settings, Devices in the Telegram app. Leave it there. If you end that session, the copier is logged out, stops reading the channel, and needs a new login code from the dashboard.
That list is also a quick health check. If the session is listed, Telegram is connected. If it has vanished, reconnect before the next signal.
You don't need to keep Telegram open, keep the screen on, or leave the browser tab running. The phone can be on airplane mode on a flight and the trades still get copied.
Phone-only, but not phone-limited
It is the same dashboard you would open on a laptop, with every setting in it: TP splits, break-even, trading hours, symbol renames and custom words. The features page has the complete list. If you later add a second channel and MT5 account, each add-on is EUR 24.99 a month and is set up from the phone the same way.
Copier on phone FAQ
Can I run a Telegram copier EA on MT5 for Android or iPhone?
No. MT5 mobile apps don't run Expert Advisors, so any copier that depends on an EA needs a Windows computer or VPS. A cloud copier doesn't need an EA on your side.
Does my phone need to stay on for trades to copy?
No. The copier runs on our servers. Your phone can be locked, offline or switched off.
Do I need Telegram Desktop or a computer to connect Telegram?
No. You enter your phone number on the website and type the login code Telegram sends to your app. The copier then appears as a session under Settings, Devices.
Can I see copied trades in the MT5 mobile app?
Yes. Log in to the same MT5 account in the app and the copied trades appear under Trade, and closed ones under History.
Does it work with MT4 on my phone?
No. The copier supports MT5 accounts only, not MT4 or cTrader.
